To maintain a skilled set of employees within an organization, provision of proper training and development is a necessity. Today the employees seek for there career development and development of new skills which could be added to their profile. Proper training and development (T&D) is a key for attracting good talented and work enthusiastic employees. At present employees are aware that unless having an updated skill set in their relevant fields, they will not be able to sustain for long or demand for more pay. A good example for the above would be the IT sector. The technology is constantly updating, and new skill sets are needed for varying projects.
If an employee feels that he or she is incapable of handling the tasks given to them due to lack of specific skills and knowledge, the outcome would be the employee stressed, demotivation and unhappy. Ultimately the employee would shift for a company where he or she is valued, admired and proper T&D are provided (Martinelli, 2022) “In our rapidly changing society, staying at the forefront of your industry in terms of knowledge is no longer just a nice to have. An organization that is a leader in its industry can drop in its rankings simply due to a lack of training. By neglecting to educate your employees on trends, policies, and advancements within the industry, your entire organization will miss out on key innovations within the industry” (Gendron, 2022).
Furthermore, when employees are not properly trained on new policies, mandates, requirements, and practices as they arise, the company will run in to legal issues and complications which in return would be a great cost to the company.
